Shawn Monday is a Walton Hills, Ohio native who has been cooking around northeast Ohio since 1994. Chef Monday has cooked at some of the area' s premier restaurants: Hunters Hollow and Stix in Chagrin Falls, The Country Club of Barrington, and Turners Mill in Hudson, Ohio.
In 2002 Shawn knew it was time to get out on his own. But before opening his Hudson restaurant Downtown 140, Shawn was dedicated to further enhancing his culinary knowledge and skills. While designing and preparing for the opening of his own restaurant, Shawn worked with locally renowned Chefs John Kolar of Three Birds in Lakewood and Doug Katz of Fire in Shaker Square.
Downtown 140 opened in July of 2004 in Hudson to rave reviews. Downtown 140 has been featured on several top 10 lists, and also made the 2008 Zagat Top Restaurants list.
In September of 2009, Shawn, his wife/business partner Tiffany, and designer and partner Michael Schwartz created One Red Door. The team transformed the former Hudson restaurant The Vue into a casual-fine dining eatery with a warehouse flair featuring inventive comfort food along with a hip atmosphere.One Red Door has been named a Cleveland Magazine A List Restaurant for three years running.
Chef Monday has been featured in many local and national publications, including Northern Ohio Live, the Cleveland Magazine Tastemakers issue, Best of Cleveland, Scene Magazine, and Food and Wine Magazine. Shawn Monday and his gourmet burger restaurant Flip Side were also showcased on the Cooking Channel`s program Unique Eats in December of 2011.
Shawn runs the highly successful gourmet burger restaurant Flip Side, which has six locations; 3 Palms, an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria and Italian bakery; and the soon to open Bell & Flower.
